Life, in general, is a lie. Not just the cake.

It’s a silly idea, really.  I looked at my email today- I have 7313 MB of space to use.  I’m using 150 MB.  It lead me to wonder- has anyone ever FILLED a gmail account?  I’ve never seen anything that says it’s been done.  With that said, I had an idea- I want to fill one.  This is just another of my hair-brained schemes that will probably fail, but it’s worth a shot.  So if you’re reading this, send emails, sign up for spam, register for sites that will fill your inbox with spam.  Let’s just see if A) it can be filled, and B) how long it will take.  Remember- thisaccountisfull@gmail.com.  Go nuts.

I’d like to think I never/rarely shill things here, but this is amazing.  Geeks.com is selling this thing for $13 plus shipping.  This is probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen- they say it works on walls, and ever upside down.  I did a little research, and it looks like there are some kind of fabric curtain type things that hang off the bottom that create an air pocket vacuum that hold the car to the surface.  Pretty cool stuff, I might buy one myself. :)

I’m sure a lot of you stopping by here already know about what I’m going to talk about- but on the odd chance that someone else reads this outside of my usual group of friends, I’ll tell you about one of the greatest things on the internet.  No, not tygr20.com, not Twitter, not ARGs, although those things are also great.

I was turned onto Ringorang by faeryqueen21 indirectly.  She had tweeted about not getting her @ringorang alert.  I obviously wondered what a “ringorang” was, and immediately checked it out.  I’ve been hooked since.

Ringorang is an online trivia game.  Their tagline is perfect: It Pays To Know This Stuff.  Once an hour at a random interval, a new question comes up.  You can get these questions via an alert from their downloadable app, or through the Ringorang site itself.  When a question comes up, you have 20 seconds to answer.  If it were possible to answer immediately, you’d earn 300 points.  As time passes, the value goes down.  So what’s to keep you from just taking a random stab?  If you’re wrong, you lose the points you would have won.  If you answer immediately and you’re wrong, you lose 300 points.  If you answer 3 in a row correctly, you’re rewarded with a 150 point bonus.  The questions are given in a multiple choice format, and they cover everything from sports(Which two NFL teams usually host a game on Thanksgiving?) to politics(Who did president elect Barack Obama name to be his Secretary of State?).  Some of the questions are easy, some are ridiculously hard.

Why should you play?  Cash and prizes.  Well, not actual CASH, but Amazon.com gift certificates.  1st, 2nd and 3rd places will get $100, $50, and $25 gift cards, respectively.  Everyone in the top 10 will get a free Ringorang t-shirt.  One lucky player who has more than 1000 points, but didn’t make the top 10 will get a $15 Amazon gift card.  The game runs 24 hours from 8 AM(PST, 11 AM EST) Monday to 5 PM(8 PM EST) on Friday.  At the end of the week, the winners are named, and the week starts over again.  I can happily say that I won 2nd place last week, and I’m trying to start strong this week(1st, as of time of writing!).

In the end- Ringorang.com is a great game, and I really encourage everyone to play.  Have fun, learn random facts, and possibly win stuff!  How can you lose?  I’m not getting any kind of referral bonus or anything for sending people there(maybe I should be, HINT HINT :-P)- I’m just really enjoying the game- and I hope you will too.
