I'm psychic, or, Why I should have taken the day...
I’m working on a fairly large project for a fairly large client at work. It’s been very stressful, and yesterday I considered taking today off work. My lead greets me this morning by informing me that particular client is in our building today.
Never mind my mumbling; it’s just the serenity prayer.

How I'm Doing It, or, Where'd The Rest Of You Go?!
I’ve never considered myself extraordinary. I’ve never considered myself inspirational. To be honest, I never really thought of myself as reliable, persistent, and never really thought I could see difficult things through. In October, I got an email at work asking for feedback on the personal trainer they employed in our gym. In 7 months, I had no idea he existed. I asked for some details and...

To my wife
If you would have told me even 8 years ago that I hadn’t even met my best friend yet, I would have called you crazy, but you would’ve been right. I met a small-town girl with a southern twang in her voice who turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. 5 years ago today I married my best friend, and every day I spend with her is just that much better. I love you with all...

Why did the monkey cross the road?
My four year old loves to tell jokes. Unfortunately, she’s limited to what she hears from the handful of kids shows and things she ocassionally hears from friends and family. Her favorite at the moment is, “How do ducks learn to fly?” (They just wing it.) She tries to vary the joke, but is no comedienne yet. “How do ducks learn to poop?” (They just poop it.)
I...
We will always remember
I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing 10 years ago today. I remember the outburst of emotion around and within me. And I remember the way we picked ourselves up, tears and all, carried on, and vowed that this wouldn’t be a deathblow to America, that we would be a better and stronger nation for it. And I’ll never forget. But now when my four year old asks why today is...

A Fantasy Football Story
Twas the night before the playoffs, when all through the league Not a team was at rest, from the top to bottom seed. The waiver wire was scoured by the first and the last, In hope that other owners had seen a gem but passed.
The sleepers were nestled all starting or benched, Their owners all hoping their playoff spot had been clinched. My squad with its handcuffs and outright studs, Had made no...

I love Halloween
Walking through a ritzy almost-closed-gate neighborhood with my kiddo, brother-in-law and his wife and kids, I saw a very statuesque Michael Myers who I’d have sworn wasn’t real. Then I overheard two girls, probably 13ish talking.
Girl 1: “I swear I heard him say, ‘I’ve been watching you all day.’”
Both turn to look. Michael takes one very deliberate...
Being a stay at home dad is srs bns.
I’ve been thinking for a few weeks about the lack of centralized information for stay at home dads and things they do with their kids. Perfect example: stayathomedad.com, .net, and .org are all owned by squatters. It’s sad. Of course you can Google “things to do with your kids on the cheap” or something similar- but why should you have to fly from site to site to find...

Networking geeks: Help!
So here’s the situation:
For about 3-4 days, when my computer comes out of sleep mode, my router won’t let me connect with my laptop, my iPod, or my PS3. I have to restart the router 2-3 times to make it work. Is my router about to bite the dust, or am I missing something? Running Windows 7 x64, Belkin G router, firmware is up to date, Windows is fully updated. Only recent changes...

Greenstein on odds
“Someone shows you a coin with a head and a tail on it. You watch them flip it ten times, and all ten times it comes up heads. What is the probability that it will come up tails on the 11th flip? A novice gambler will tell you, ‘Tails is more likely than heads, since things have to even out, and tails is due to come up.’ A math student will tell you, ‘We can’t...

When things go exactly as you'd hoped, or, Why I...
I went into my personal league this year with the #4 overall pick. I think I dominated the draft, getting every sleeper I really, really wanted. My first pick was a no-brainer in a PPR league. With Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, and Maurice Jones-Drew all off the board, I got the guy I’d have taken at #2 behind CJ: I got Ray Rice.
I really expected(and schemed) my second round pick, I...

Pop quiz, hotshots- what do you ask?
I’m about to do a phone interview with a potential employer in about an hour. What should I ask the interviewer? I’m established in the field with about 6-7 years experience.

I'm a 3%-er! or, Suck it AT&T
Let me start by saying I’ve been with AT&T for about 6 years. My wife has been for 12. I never had a problem with them, their tech support has always been helpful(surprisingly) even if it took 2-3 calls to get resolution.
Tonight, I really took notice to a commercial of theirs I usually ignored. My favorite part of this commercial was this screen towards the end:
“AT&T...

The 2010 Indianapolis Colts: More of everything...
I became a Colts fan when I was in my teens. Back when Jim Harbaugh was running the huddle, and a year before the Colts leapt into the AFC championship game. As I kid who grew up watching and loving the slow pace of baseball, and who had moved on to the flash and speed of basketball. The speed and grace of wide receivers, the brash, smashmouth play of running backs, and the lumbering,...

Why Amazon shoppers disappoint me →
Let’s stop for a moment and talk some real talk here. If you play guitar(or you know anyone who does, ask them) consider for one moment buying a guitar online. After you’re finished laughing- a guitar purchase is one you just don’t make online. Every guitar is different. The tone isn’t always consistent with others of the same make, and even once in a blue moon a true...

Canadian fans have the most polite hecklers EVER.
Paraphrased from ESPN Radio’s “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd:
Colin was talking to Ryan Miller, the US Men’s Hockey goaltender. Miller said he was spotted by a group of Canadians, one who pointed out who exactly Miller was. They all turned and glared, and in unison shouted, “HEY MILLER, F*#& YOUR MOTHER!”
No they didn’t. “HEY A$#HOLE! YOU...

Testing the power of Twitter & Tumblr
Let’s test out the power of Twitter & Tumblr here: I’ll know for sure tomorrow, but I’m almost certainly looking for a head or at the very least valves from a Honda H22A4 motor. That’s the 2.2 L VTEC motor from the 97-01 Preludes. I’ll gladly take any identical/better head with good valves from any interchangeable motor. If you know someone who has this...

So here's where you come in.
So a few of my friends and I are considering making some new sketches. We had some a while back that I can’t find or I’d post them to Youtube. One brief example- we had one titled the Wii World Boxing Championship of the World featuring a friend of mine who was rising up through the boxing ranks to take on who we’d dubbed then champ Daisuke. We chronicled his training(beer,...

The Scavenger Hunt
So I’m reaching out to Tumblr and Twitter one last time.
This Saturday, myself and 3 of my friends are pitting ourselves against a team of girls, and 3 guys from my old home town in a Viva La Bam style scavenger hunt. Yes, I know this is somewhat childish, immature, blah blah blah I’m not listening.
You can see the list we’ve compiled between borrowing from VLB and another...

Brett Favre needs a good old fashioned punch in...
I sat down to try to think of something to write about tonight. I kept coming up empty. Then I started thinking- 12seconds.tv has a mini-app on their site dubbed the 12erator. It’s designed to give you things to 12 about. In case you’re unfamiliar with the site, it’s just what it sounds like- you have 12 seconds to vlog about anything you like. There are daily challenges and...

Dreams are weird, weird happenings in life.
I’m a bit foggy about the details, but I’m going to try to convey them as best I can.
So. I’m at a Sam’s Club… but it’s more like a KMart. Make sense? Good. I’m walking in the doors, and there’s a newspaper rack talking about a ring of pageant girls being manipulated by Scientologists. I’m still not sure how they were being manipulated, but...

What would the healthcare system be like if it was...
Jim Babb, Twitter…er… extrordinaire posed a very interesting question, just a few minutes ago.
jimbabb: Wondering what health care system would be like if it was run by the Yankees?
Well, Mr. Babb, here’s how I see this breaking down.
The Yankees would immediately put “scouts,” as they were, in various cities around the country. Even one in Canada. Toronto, to be...
